A marker such as [external:GH-1842] is added to the Okatana title. The integration searches for it before creation, then updates the existing ticket if found.

For a stronger synchronization system, persist the external-ID-to-Okatana-ID mapping in your own durable store. Search-based reconciliation should be a recovery mechanism, not the only source of identity.
